Altifigence Academy launches: from logic gates to RTL design
Start learning digital design with Altifigence Academy. The free Digital Logic Circuits course connects logic gates, combinational and sequential circuits, and SystemVerilog practice.
Altifigence Academy is now available for anyone taking their first steps in digital design or revisiting the fundamentals. Starting with how circuits represent 0 and 1, the learning path connects circuit behavior to RTL code and verification.
Start with Digital Logic Circuits
The free introductory Digital Logic Circuits course builds up the ideas needed to understand and design digital hardware:
Digital signals and logic gates: learn number representations and the behavior of AND, OR, NOT, BUFFER, NAND, NOR, XOR and XNOR through symbols and truth tables.
From logic expressions to circuits: use Boolean algebra and Karnaugh maps, then explore encoders, decoders, multiplexers, adders and comparators.
Circuits that remember: understand latches and flip-flops, then work with clocks, reset, counters, shift registers and finite state machines.
Design and verification together: implement circuits in SystemVerilog, inspect waveforms, check boundary cases against an independent reference model, and bring the ideas together in a detector for overlapping 101 patterns.
Optional advanced chapters extend the course to ALUs, fixed-point arithmetic, memory, FIFOs, pipelines, ready/valid interfaces and UART transmission.
Connect concepts to hands-on work
Follow a design from its truth table and equations to its circuit and waveform. Concept lessons can be read in the browser, and the course provides example code and input files for practice. For the labs, prepare a Digital Design Studio Desktop project and the required execution permissions.
More courses in preparation
Further courses are in preparation on RTL design fundamentals, datapaths and pipelines, systolic arrays, CNN accelerators and analog circuit design. These are marked as in preparation in the course catalog. Begin today with the available Digital Logic Circuits course.
